Tested by Children - Josephine, Cleo & Anaïs

In Frederiksberg, in the heart of Copenhagen, 7-year-old Anaïs and 3-year-old Cleo live with their parents, Josephine and Alexander. As a former fashion editor and now creative consultant, Josephine has a keen eye for aesthetics and quality, but when it comes to her daughter’s wardrobes, comfort and freedom of movement are just as important. We visited Josephine, Anaïs and Cleo in their family home to talk about everyday life, sibling style and the girls’ own opinions on clothes and shoes, where independence is encouraged and the color pink remains a firm favorite.

How does a typical everyday look like for Anaïs and Cleo?

Me or my husband takes them in the cargo bike to kindergarten and school. In the afternoon we usually go to a playground, to the ice cream shop or on a playdate. We try not to have too many plans or activities planned during the week, as it feels both stressful for them and for us parents. We all thrive more when there’s room for spontaneous plans depending on the mood.

Anaïs is now a schoolgirl, how do you feel her independence in terms of dressing and picking her own wardrobe? Has it changed?

Haha, she’s always been very determined regarding her outfits. Wonder where she gets it from? Her requirements are all about comfort and everything in the color pink. Even though the girls are 4 years apart, they love to dress in the same outfits. I think it’s very cute, there’s no rush in having Anaïs feel more grown up than she is.

What do you look for when choosing shoes for Anaïs and Cleo, and what matters most to them?

Definitely comfort first! They also care a lot about the look - anything sparkly, pink or with rainbow colors is a yes from them. But none of that matters if it doesn’t feel comfortable. I try not to control what they can and cannot wear, but since they go for everything pink, whenever I can squeeze in something in other colors, I do that. It’s all about balance.

What are your favorite styles for the season, and what do you specifically like about them?

The girls have been wearing the zion sneakers every day since they arrived. They’re so easy for them to put on themselves and they’re light and comfortable. I also love the nico sandals, they come in so many cute colors.
